Grading Policy

A letter grade will be earned by your child in each subject.  Easily graded work, such as math and science will receive a percentage and grade whereas a written paper or items that are more subjective, will receive a letter grade

I will constantly encourage your child to give their best.  I feel if they are being challenged and doing their best that’s all that can be asked of them.  Please keep in mind, a child who is earning straight “A’s” may not be challenged at their level whereas a child who is earning lower than an “A” may be working exactly where they need to be.  A letter grade, or any grade, doesn’t necessarily show your child’s ability. We just need to keep encouraging our children to do their best and to work at their full potential.

CORRECTING WORK:

I will give your child one chance to correct any assignment or test.  This must be completed within two weeks of the assigned date. You will know if your child has corrected the assignment when you see two different colors as a part of the grade.

NO NAME POLICY:

Assignments turned in without a proper heading, including the student’s name, will be placed aside and the student must redo the assignment.  If the assignment is turned in a second time, without a name, the student will receive a zero for the assignment and it cannot be made up.

HOMEWORK POLICY:

I will not send busy work home for the sake of “homework”.  Your child will have homework if they are unable to complete assignments in class or if there is an assignment due in the future, such as a written report, studying for vocabulary and states tests or book reports.  There may be times where I will send work home if your child needs extra practice in a given subject matter.
